What is 14kt gold filled?

14kt gold filled, also called rolled gold, is a heat and pressure bonding of real 14 kt gold over another metal.  This results in a piece of jewelry where everything that you see and feel is real 14 kt gold, but the finished piece is more durable (14kt gold alone is a fairly soft metal) and much more affordable.

Gold filled, or rolled gold is NOT gold plating. 

Gold plating is an electro-chemical process that deposits a very thin layer of gold color material (many times not even real gold) over another metal.  Gold plating can turn, and generally wear off.

Gold filled is real 14kt gold, will not wear off and is considered lifetime jewelry.
